Meet Erin Watts
K-2 Grade
Hello. My name is Erin Watts. I am excited to be the K-2 Title I Interventionist at Trent Park Elementary. I have two Masters degrees in Education (the 1st in Elementary Education and the 2nd in Educational Leadership) and 12 years of experience in education. I began my teaching career as a special education teacher in Fairfax County, Va. Throughout my time in Fairfax (10 years) I taught every grade from Kindergarten-Fifth grade so I have experience with every grade levels curriculum. After leaving Fairfax County, I spent some time as an Assistant Principal in neighboring Carteret County before decided to work closer to home.
My key role as the K-2 Interventionist is to provide supplementary interventions in small group, individualized settings and occasionally support in the larger classroom.. My primary goal is to help children acquire the necessary skills to become a proficient learner. I strive to create a nurturing, motivational and stimulating learning environment to help children achieve their potential and enable them to have greater success when working in the classroom setting. I will also be collaborating with teachers to create appropriate instruction.
I believe that parents and guardians are the most important teachers in children’s life. I strive to work collaboratively with parents/guardians to create a partnership so that we may help children become scholars and life-long learners. It is my goal to instill a lifelong passion of reading and writing in all of the future scholars of TPE. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Akwaaba! which means WELCOME from my native country of Ghana, West Africa. My name is Amma Dankyi (Denchi). I am a dual national of Ghanaian/British descent. After a decade in the aviation industry as an international flight attendant, and three years as a classroom teacher in my homeland of London, England, I transitioned to Fayetteville, NC and completed six years in the Cumberland County school system. Fast forward to 2016 and I am now part of Trent Park Elementary's Title 1 Reading/Instructional support.
The Reading/Instructional Support Program is a positive and supportive program designed to give students an extra boost in academic skills and self-esteem. My key role as the 3-5 Reading/Instructional Support Teacher is to provide supplementary interventions in both small group and individualized settings. My primary goal is to help children acquire the necessary skills to become a proficient reader. I will be identifying areas of need and constructing explicit small-group lessons that not only meet the students’ needs, but keep them motivated and engaged in the learning process. I strive to create a nurturing, motivational and stimulating learning environment to help children achieve their potential and enable them to have greater self-sufficiency when working in the classroom setting. In this joint effort, I will be collaborating with teachers to create appropriate instruction while monitoring your children's progress. Parents and guardians are the most important teachers in children’s life and it is with that understanding that I appreciate the role that parents/guardians and I each play in the partnership of children achieving the goals set forth for them. It is my goal to instill a lifelong passion of reading in all of the future scholars of TPE. I have very high expectations of myself as a teacher as well as TPE's scholars and I have always found that to be a formula for success!
